In 2014, Wilsons fame exploded to the other side of the Atlantic in a more prominent way by announcing her participation in Showtimes The Affair as Alison Lockhart an unreliable young woman with a dark past that falls in love with the husband of her dreams, Noah Solloway. Wilson won the Golden Globe award for Best Actress In A Television Series Drama, alongside Mauratierney and Joshua Jackson. Wilson said in British Vogue: "I love that I can play characters from two angles." Noah imagines Alison's confident and irresponsible sexy side. However, Alison sees herself in a completely other perspective. On the inside she feels dowdy. The actress said "I believe that America is such a moral nation and they're so judgmental. The way they conduct themselves in the show appears shocking." In 2018, Wilson exited the show, to the shock of many fans but she was not clear on other details. On the CBS This Morning Interview in August of 2018, Wilson stated, "I did want to leave, but I'm not able to talk about the reason why." Wilson began working in film more recently. Wilson starred in the horror thriller I Am the Pretty Thing Living in the Home in 2016. She also portrayed the cryptic PT Stella as the Sci-Fi romantic comedy How to Talk to Girls in Parties. In addition to her list of horror films Wilson is also set to appear in the British film adaptation of The Little Stranger. The supernatural thriller was inspired by the Sarah Waters' novel. Wilson is also the producer of the film.
